Liverpool interested in Feyenoord boss Arne Slot to replace Klopp

Feyenoord head coach Arne Slot has become one of the main candidates for the soon-to-be-vacant managerial role at Liverpool, according to Paul Joyce of . The Eredivisie club have apparently canceled a press conference scheduled for Wednesday amid the uncertainty regarding the future of the man tasked with leading their team.

Slot previously had an 18-month stint at AZ Alkmaar, before taking over at Feyenoord in the summer of 2021, and there are still two years left on his contract as his team trail PSV Eindhoven at the top of the Dutch top flight by nine points at the moment. Last season, Feyenoord won their first Eredivisie title in six years under the command of the 45-year-old, and last week they won the KNVB Cup as well.

Liverpool were initially interested in Xabi Alonso, but when the Spaniard confirmed his decision to remain at Bayer Leverkusen past this summer, they turned to other targets. Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim and Roberto De Zerbi of Brighton and Hove Albion were heavily linked with the Merseysiders, but it seems that the tables have turned once more on that front.

Nothing has been agreed yet, however, and the vacancies at Bayern Munich and Barcelona continue to pose difficulties in Liverpool s search for a new manager.
