Cahill is England´s best centre-back, says Terry

Chelsea captain John Terry believes team-mate Gary Cahill is the best centre-back in the Premier League.

Cahill has seen his spot in the Chelsea starting XI come under threat from promising France defender Kurt Zouma but, since vowing to silence his critics last month, he has nailed down a place in a team poised to win the league.

Earlier in the month former England manager Fabio Capello called on Terry who retired

But Terry insists Cahill is the best option for current England boss Roy Hodgson.

Terry said: Gary is a big character. He was obviously disappointed to be left out of the Chelsea side a few months ago, but he has come back and taken his chance again.

Coronavirus: UNFP warns against ´dangerous´ return of Ligue 1 season

The professional footballers union in France has warned against resuming the Ligue 1 season over a busy schedule that could put the health of players at risk.

Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 were suspended indefinitely on March 13 due to the coronavirus pandemic, with France on a nationwide lockdown until at least May 11.

Such a hectic calendar would lead to a greater risk of players becoming injured and risk games becoming less entertaining for fans, according to Sylvain Kastendeuch, the co-president of the…

Spain or Germany – you decide

Great success over three years

Germany have been something of a surprise package at the World Cup and I think even those in Germany may have thought their team was too inexperienced to expect much from. Who am I kidding? They always assume they’ll make the at least the semi-finals and in eleven of the last fifteen World Cups they have been right!

They faced what I hoped would be a tough test against England and quite simply out-classed them and blew them away. Then they faced what I thought would be a tough test against Argentina, but once again, they won the game at a stroll.

Toughest

This evening they face the toughest test as they take on pre-tournament and still favourites, Spain. Despite Spain not yet reaching the heights that they displayed at Euro…
